Optical Character Recognition Researcher
Summary
Worked as a research assistant with Dr. Samuel Grieggs, at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, to design an application that intakes an image of a handwritten manuscript to then be translated through Optical Character Recognition. The research goal is to apply computer vision and deep learning networks to perform reliable text translations. I was assigned the job of application development, back-end development with python, and computer vision image processing.
My Contributions
Technologies Used: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, Python, File Management, Matplotlib, PyWebView, NumPy
- Collaborated, one-on-one, with associate professor in research work dedicated to character recognition in hand written manuscripts.
- Utilized machine learning, computer vision, and artificial intelligence to facilitate the creation of ground truth data from handwritten manuscripts.
- Developed the backend and the interface for the character recognition software application.
