Summary (Adapted from IUP website)
Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), led by Professor Waleed Farag, has received funding to run the GenCyber program in summer 2024 for the ninth consecutive year, supported by the National Science Foundation and the National Security Agency. This initiative aims to raise awareness of K-12 cybersecurity education and career opportunities, increase diversity in cybersecurity pathways, and prepare teachers to deliver cybersecurity content in classrooms. The program will feature a free, five-day, in-person camp for middle and high school students, along with online pre-camp and post-camp activities. The camp, delivered by a team of experienced cybersecurity educators, will include engaging lessons, hands-on labs, and group activities to equip participants with a strong understanding of cybersecurity and essential online safety skills.
